Editing service

Sophie serves as translation Board Member for the magazine The Other Side of Hope, which publishes the writing of refugees and migrants in more than 56 languages.

She works with authors, publishers  and magazine editors on essays and creative writing manuscripts in the genres of literary and historical fictions, memoirs and travel writing.

Translation

A native French speaker, she also translates literary works from French into English. In 2024, she was commissioned by Renard Press, Brown Bear Film and Penguin Random House to produce book reports and deliver translation from French into English.

Book reviews

Sophie is available to receive and review recently published works of fiction and creative non-fiction from publishers and magazine editors. Her reviews have appeared in the Wales Arts Review, Modron Magazine, Nation.Cymru and via the Writers on Reading Podcast.

Talks, Panels and Interviews

Sophie is available to deliver talks and to take part in panels at literary events, festivals and conference as chair or participant. She has spoken at the Hay Festival, the Llandeilo Festival, These3Streams and a number of literary events in and around Wales and the South West, as well as events in libraries and bookshops, including recently Waterstone’s Cardiff on ‘Strong Female Characters and the On Going Need for a Women-Only Press like Honno’, with authors Meredith Miller and Catrin Kean.

In her academic capacity, Sophie was keynote speaker at ENCAPsulate 2024, where she delivered a talk entitled: The Right to Change Your Mind: from lobbyist to portfolio freelance writer, a meandering journey.’

She has spoken at a number of academic conference about her creative work and her research on Travel Writing. These include:
